Bekasi, June 19, 2026 – Community health awareness was at the center of attention as members of ASJB (Alumni SMA Jakarta Bersatu) Bekasi Regional Chapter participated in the World Stroke Organization (WSO) Award Ceremony hosted by Primaya Hospital Bekasi Barat.
The delegation, led by Rita Nikmahwati, Chairwoman of ASJB Bekasi Regional Chapter, consisted of more than 15 members who attended the event to gain valuable insights into stroke prevention and early detection.
Held under the theme “Saving Time, Saving Brain, Saving Lives,” the event recognized the achievements of Primaya Hospital Bekasi Barat, Primaya Hospital Bekasi Utara, and Primaya Hospital Depok for their excellence in stroke care and treatment.
A key highlight of the program was the public education session on stroke awareness. Medical experts introduced the FAST method (Face, Arm, Speech, Time), emphasizing the importance of recognizing early warning signs such as facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulties, and the need for immediate medical attention.
Participants also learned about other neurological symptoms, including sudden loss of consciousness, numbness on one side of the body, balance disorders, severe headaches, and dizziness. Preventive measures discussed included maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, quitting smoking, controlling cholesterol levels, and undergoing routine medical check-ups.
According to Dyana, Secretary of ASJB Bekasi Regional Chapter, the event provided valuable knowledge for both members and the wider community.
“This event was highly beneficial as it increased our understanding of how to recognize and respond to stroke symptoms at an early stage. Health education initiatives like this align perfectly with ASJB Bekasi’s commitment to improving community well-being. Furthermore, the event provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships with our colleagues at Primaya Hospital while introducing ASJB to communities that share concerns about health, social development, and public welfare,” said Dyana.
Ratna Agustini, a member of ASJB Bekasi Regional Chapter and a radio broadcaster at Davoice Radio who actively promotes MSMEs (UMKM), expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the health education program organized by Primaya Hospital.
“I feel fortunate to have attended this event because it provided valuable health education. What caught my attention the most was the discussion on the rapid response and treatment procedures for stroke patients at Primaya Hospital. For us, especially the Bekasi community, programs like this broaden our knowledge and awareness of important health issues. We learned more about stroke, its symptoms, and the importance of early intervention. We also gained useful information about healthcare facilities that are well-prepared and responsive in handling patients who show signs of stroke. This kind of knowledge is extremely valuable not only for ourselves but also for our families and the wider community,” said Ratna.
Ratna added that public health education delivered in a practical and easy-to-understand manner is highly beneficial, as it helps people make informed decisions during medical emergencies, particularly when dealing with stroke symptoms that require immediate treatment.
The participation of ASJB Bekasi reflects the organization’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging greater public awareness about stroke prevention. Through initiatives such as this, ASJB aims to contribute not only to social networking among alumni but also to meaningful community development and public health advocacy.
