Jakarta – The spirit of compassion and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadhan was warmly felt at Rumah Harapan Orphanage on Saturday, March 14, 2026, when members of Alumni SMA Jakarta Bersatu (ASJB) East Jakarta Chapter paid a visit as part of their Ramadhan social service program.
The visit brought smiles and excitement to the children living at the orphanage. Currently home to 33 orphaned and underprivileged children ranging from elementary to junior high school age, Rumah Harapan not only provides shelter but also supports educational activities and character development for the children under its care.
During the visit, ASJB members delivered various donations collected from voluntary contributions by members of the East Jakarta chapter. The assistance included cash donations, basic food supplies, and snacks intended to help support the children’s daily needs.
ASJB Chairwoman Jeni Suryanti expressed her appreciation for the initiative shown by the East Jakarta chapter. She emphasized that Ramadhan is always a meaningful time to strengthen empathy and social responsibility.
“ASJB is not only a place for alumni to reconnect, but also a space where we can grow our sense of social care. Activities like this show that togetherness among alumni can bring real benefits to the community,” Jeni said in a separate statement.
She added that the organization hopes the visit and assistance could bring encouragement and happiness to the children.
“We hope our presence here can bring a little joy and motivation for the children to continue learning and pursuing their dreams,” she said.
Meanwhile, Susy, Head of ASJB East Jakarta Chapter, explained that the social service activity was made possible through the collective spirit and generosity of the members.
“All the donations came from the voluntary contributions of our members. Some donated cash, others provided food supplies and snacks. Our main goal is simply to share happiness with the children, especially during this blessed month of Ramadhan,” Susy said.
The East Jakarta chapter is known as one of the most active branches within the ASJB community. In addition to social service programs, members regularly organize activities that strengthen friendships while also benefiting the wider community.
Past initiatives have included preloved bazaars, cooking classes, children’s coloring competitions, and regular healthy morning walks involving alumni members.
The Ramadhan visit to Rumah Harapan once again reflected the chapter’s commitment to combining friendship with meaningful social action.
For the children at the orphanage, the day became more than just a moment to receive assistance. It was also an opportunity to share laughter, stories, and warm interactions with the visiting alumni.
Amid the peaceful atmosphere of Ramadhan, the simple gathering served as a reminder that even small acts of kindness—when done together—can create a big impact and bring hope to many.
